Cool Treats—More Kid-Friendly Recipes

Here are some "cool treats" that kids will love at any time of year.

Chocolate-Peanut-Butter Pops

You Need
½ cup of peanut butter
2 tablespoons of mini chocolate chips
2 six-ounce containers of low-fat chocolate yogurt
4 three-ounce paper cups
4 wooden craft sticks
foil

  1. Using a butter knife, make three stripes of peanut butter down the inside of each cup.
  2. Pour ½ tablespoon of mini chocolate chips into each cup.
  3. Fill the cups with chocolate yogurt.
  4. Cover with foil. Make a slit and insert a craft stick.
  5. Place the pops in the freezer for four hours or until frozen. Peel off the cups and enjoy.

Variation:
Substitute a fruit-flavored yogurt for the chocolate yogurt, and use sprinkles or fruit instead of the peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Try a Strawberry Smoothie

You Need
banana
strawberries
plain yogurt
orange juice

Strawberry Smoothie
  1. Cut a banana into small pieces and put them in the blender.
  2. Add 1 cup of strawberries, 1 cup of yogurt, and ½ cup of orange juice.
  3. Ask an adult to blend the mixture until smooth.
  4. Smoothies are great for breakfast and for a snack anytime!

Variation:
Try this recipe with different fruits and juices. To make this a year-round treat, use frozen fruit when fresh fruit is out of season.
