Kid-Friendly Summer Recipes
Summer is a great time to cook with your kids. Fruit salads and veggie salads provide the chance for young kids to help wash, mix, and arrange ingredients.

Sunshine Salad
- Wash some lettuce, and put it on a plate.
- Put pineapple slices on the lettuce.
- Add some low-fat vanilla or lemon yogurt.
- Add orange slices to make the rays of the sun.
Variation:
Make a Sunset Salad by decorating a lettuce leaf with horizontal strips of melon or red pepper.

Homemade Butter
- Pour heavy cream into jars.
- Shake the jars until butter forms.
- Pour off the liquid.
- Spread on bread, corn on the cob, or other veggies.
- Refrigerate to keep butter fresh.
Variation:
Spread the butter on a cracker, and top it with a slice of fruit.
Banana-Split Breakfast
- In the evening, put a container of yogurt in the freezer.
- In the morning, thaw the yogurt and some frozen berries for 15 to 20 minutes.
