Here's a recipe for homemade play dough. Your kids can help with steps 1, 2, and 4. If you store the dough in an air-tight container, it will last for many weeks.

- Put 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 4 teaspoons of cream of tartar into a pot.
- Add 4 teaspoons of oil and 4 drops of food coloring to 2 cups of water. Pour the liquids into the pot.
- Adult: Cook the mixture on medium heat, stirring constantly until it looks like mashed potatoes. Immediately remove from the burner, and remove the dough from the pot.
- When it's cool, knead until it's smooth.
